SortingSorting promotes higher level thinking skills by requiring students to synthesize information and classify it by attributes. The purpose in using sorting as a writing strategy is to help students organize previously taught content into a framework or structure for essay writing. This is an excellent strategy to integrate with science and social studies content. The following pictures represent sorts for the primary grades.
